IGF-1 vs IGF-1 LR3: Effects on Muscle, Fat, and Aging

Numerous studies have shown that reduced IGF-1 levels are a major factor contributing to age-related declines, such as the loss of lean muscle and increased fat accumulation. A study involving 21 healthy men aged 61 to 81 years further supports the link between low IGF-1 levels and aging-related changes.

In this study, participants were split into two groups: one received IGF-1 injections three times per week for six months, while the control group received no treatment. At the end of the trial, the treated group showed significant results, including an 8.8% average gain in lean muscle mass and a 14.4% reduction in body fat. They also experienced a 1.6% increase in lumbar bone density and a 7.1% increase in skin thickness, which are notable since thinning of bones and skin are common effects of aging. The untreated control group, on the other hand, showed no changes in these measures.

These findings emphasize the vital role IGF-1 plays in maintaining muscle, bone, and skin health. IGF-1 LR3, a modified form of IGF-1, is widely recognized for being 2–3 times more effective than standard IGF-1 in achieving these results.

IGF-1 LR3 is a potent stimulator of muscle growth. While it supports existing muscle tissue, it also promotes the formation of new muscle cells and fibers. This dual ability to enhance both hypertrophy (growth of existing muscle cells) and hyperplasia (creation of new muscle cells) sets IGF-1 LR3 apart from other muscle-building compounds.

During conventional resistance training, hypertrophy occurs, which increases the size of existing muscle cells. However, no new muscle cells are formed during this process, as adults have a fixed number of muscle cells. Research indicates that IGF-1 LR3 administration in subjects leads to both enlargement of existing muscle cells and the formation of new cells and fibers (mitogenesis). This results in enhanced muscle size, density, and overall muscular development. Clinical studies confirm that IGF-1 LR3’s ability to promote hyperplasia and mitogenesis makes it uniquely powerful among licensed peptide-based anabolic agents.
